Why Mixly
Pro crossfades
The overlap between the end of one track and the start of the next feels like a live-mixed set.
No software to learn
No need to master Serato, Rekordbox or Traktor. The guided UI builds the set in a few clicks.
Loudness aligned
Normalization avoids volume jumps between an old classic and a recent over-compressed track.
Plays anywhere
The 320 kbps MP3 export plays on Bluetooth speakers, venue PAs, mixing desks or phones.
How to do it, step by step
- Step 1
Pick 30-50 tracks
Roughly 3-4 songs per 15 minutes. A 1-hour set ≈ 15 tracks, a 3-hour set ≈ 45 tracks.
- Step 2
Sort by energy
Start gently (cocktails), build up (dinner → dance floor), wind down at the end of the night.
- Step 3
Trim long intros / outros
Many songs have 30-60s intros. Cut to the chorus to keep the energy high.
- Step 4
6-10 second crossfades
The sweet spot on the dance floor: 6-10 seconds between two same-tempo tracks.
Pro tips
Prepare several blocks
A cocktail mix (90-110 BPM), a dance-floor mix (120-130 BPM), a slow mix to close. Launch them as the vibe goes.
Avoid surprises
An odd song mid-set kills the vibe. Hold your musical thread.
Anticipate requests
Prepare a backup mix with the classics everyone asks for, ready to drop in.
Test before the day
Run the mix on the speaker you'll use. Speaker sound differs from headphone sound.
Frequently asked questions
Does Mixly replace a real DJ?
For a budget-conscious private party, yes. For a wedding with full hosting, a DJ also brings crowd-reading and pro gear.
Can I build a 3-hour set?
Yes, up to 50 tracks per project, with no strict total-duration limit on paid plans.
Are crossfades beat-matched?
No, Mixly does temporal crossfading, not automatic beat-matching. For beat-matched sets, pick songs in a tight BPM range (±5).
Can I queue Spotify after the mix?
Yes, the exported file is an MP3 played by any player. You can drop it into a Spotify local or Apple Music playlist.
